What I’ve Been Watching: April 2023
Families, despots, musketeers, and chair senpais.
Families, despots, musketeers, and chair senpais.
Despite what the title promises, this is more like The Super Mario Bros. Commercial than a Movie.
Rapping rabbits, banging beats, Bash Brothers, and redundant remakes.
Return of the Guide (IT IS), return of the Guide (PUMP UP THE WORLD)!
Illumination’s take on The Grinch is not incompetent but it is thoroughly inessential.
The other half of that “last double-stop.”
Despicable Me 3 is a tired, stale, scattershot mess of a film that I’d be more forgiving of if, like the other entries in this series, it were actually funny.
Sing is a film that deliberately plays to all of Illumination Entertainment’s weaknesses and the results are exactly how that sounds.
And now, the not-so-thrilling conclusion!
The Secret Life of Pets is a very enjoyable joke machine, but a deeply confused one that illuminates Illumination’s continued weaknesses.
